Sustainable Earth Peak Launch, Expo and Party
Saturday, 18th August 2012 was the date of NTU’s Sustainable Earth Peak Launch, Expo and Party. Everyone who participated was part of the official start of NTU’s historic enterprise. The day began with a departmental expo show casing sustainability research and projects from dozens of NTU departments and disciplinary centres, followed by a campus-wide party at the Quad (with food, refreshments and several big-time pop music acts). A highlight of this launch was NTU President, Professor Bertil Andersson signing of the charter agreement to the International Sustainable Campus Network, a network of world leading universities to support our own sustainable campus projects. A major opportunity now exists for 2013 and beyond for NTU to use this momentum to firmly establish and organise top-notch sustainable campus programmes.
The launch event and party itself was an important and visible gathering that bring together about two thousand NTU and Singaporean guests, students and other participants and connected us to tens of thousands more in our growing local and global networks of students, researchers and practitioners. NTU Presidents, Professor Bertil Andersson and NTU Provost, Professor Freddy Boey were both in attendance into an evening of music and dancing and our guest of Honor was Mr. Choi Shing Kwok, Singapore’s Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment.
